Basic HTML and HTML Document:

HTML “Hypertext Markup Language” is a text-based approach to describing how content contained within an HTML file is structured. This markup tells a web browser how to display text, images and other forms of multimedia on a webpage.

HTML is used to create electronic documents “called pages” that are displayed on the World Wide Web. Each page contains a series of connections to other pages called hyperlinks.

It is not a programming language. A markup language specifies the layout and style of a document. A markup language consists of a set of markup tags. HTML uses markup tags to describe web pages. HTML tags are keyword surrounded by angel brackets like <html>.

Most HTML tags normally come in pairs like <b> and </b>. <p> and </p>. The first tags is called the start gat “or opening tag” and the second tag is called the end tag “or closing tag”. HTML documents describe Web pages. HTML documents contain HTML tags and plain text. HTML documents are also called Web page. A web browser read HTML documents and displays them as Web pages . HTML browser does not display in HTML tags, but uses the tags to interpret the content of the page.

HTML Document:

An HTML document is a file containing hypertext markup language. HTML code is based on tags or hidden keywords, which provide instruction for formatting the document. A tags starts with an angle bracket and the ‘less than’ sign: ‘<‘. The tag ends with an angle bracket and the ‘greater than’ sign ‘>’. Tags tell the processing program, often the web browser, what to do with the text, For example, to make the work “Hello Word” bold, you would use the opening bold tag <b> and then the closing bold tag </b>, like this:

<b> Hello Word </b>
